Sandhurst Skits for 11 May 2019

8 May 2019 by Sandhurst Football Netball Club

The first of our major draws took place last Saturday night. Major winners were Andrew Johns and Matt Thornton and the consolation prize went to Shane Meade and Josh Williams.

We extend our thanks to Maryborough for swapping game times last Saturday.

The seniors took a fair while to shake their opponents before recording a solid 7 goal victory. Better players were Lachy Tardrew, the sharp shooting Jake McLean (4 snags), Jake Pallpratt, Joel Wharton, Chris Down and Matt Thornton.

The twos had a big win against an undermanned Borough outfit. Jotham Higgs, Murdoch Mulqueen and Will McKinley donned the black and teal and were worthy opponents. Thanks also to Joey, Hawkey and Nathan Walker from the 18’s who boosted our team numbers. Callum Prest and Lachlan Zimmer were tireless out of the centre; it was a goal spree in the second and third quarters with James Vlaeminck snagging a few along with Hayden Gillingham. Other good contributors included Joe Fiske-Kealy and Angus Dickson. The umps must have been doing a good job because Bull gave them a drink!! Great to see Lachy back playing his first game of the year.

The A Grade scores did not reflect the tight contest with both teams contesting strongly and the Dragons converting the turnovers. Sophie Shoebridge played a great game in defence and goalers teamed well in the circle. Glad to come away with a win with our young players keen to get to Groovin’. Best players: Sophie Shoebridge, Meg Willliams, Erica Dalrymple-Monro.

B Grade played solidly as a team unit for most of the game however patches in lapses of concentration and passing choices let us down. Versatility within the team we can swing players from midcourt to attack and goalers to defenders. Best players: Briona Giddings and Meg Patterson

With an injury cloud coinciding with Groovin’ B Reserve were lucky to have a few juniors step up. We got the early lead and spent the rest of the game extending this. A particular highlight was the Gilchrist mother and daughter combination. Best players Ava Perez (congratulations on 50 club games) and Aimee Dean (junior).

17&U had our best start all year giving us a strong result on the scoreboard. 100% effort for all four quarters with our better players being Tess Keating, Holly Lockhart and Darcey Lloyd.
